How to play this game

Children will be captivated by this activity, where they can draw their own fantastic designs. The activity uses concepts of symmetry to duplicate their drawing as they go.

A tool menu will appear after 3 seconds of no mouse activity. The toolbar can also be displayed by pressing the spacebar on the keyboard. The tool menu has the following options:

• Red X: remove the current design from the screen
• Symmetry: choose single drawing or 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 or 12 pointed symmetry
• Colours: change the background colour
• Drawing object: choose the type of objects that are used to make the design
• Random: selects a random symmetry setting and drawing object
• Print: print the design. Note that the Ctrl key must also be pressed. A printer must be connected.
• Music: change from piano sounds to drum beats as the design is drawn
• Stop: exit the game

This is mainly a free-play game, where children should just be encouraged to explore and experiment with the various settings. Introduce the use of the space bar to display the tool menu. This will make things faster for the experienced user.

This activity is spectacular when used with a touch-screen computer and can be used with great effect with adults to demonstrate your Techno Corner.
