How to play this game

This activity is great for children who are interested in music or just love making a bit of noise. They can show off their creativity as they explore the different notes and rhythms.

On opening the activity, the screen shows part of a musical keyboard with two octaves.

Children can have lots of fun clicking on the keys to make their own tunes. They can also choose from the coloured buttons at the top of the keyboard to play with five different rhythms. To turn off a selected rhythm, simply click on the same coloured button.

To exit, click on the small hand in the lower right corner of the screen.

Teaching tips

Learning with music is a wonderful way to foster children's imagination, creativity, listening skills and confidence. They will grow through experimentation and delight in their abilities. This activity has been designed to let children have fun with musical notes and express their musical creativity. To become familiar with the keyboard, free play should be encouraged and applauded.

When children have become comfortable with the notes, play an auditory memory game. Ask them to close their eyes while you play one of the notes. You may like to play it over a few times. Then ask them to open their eyes and see if they can find the note that you played. As they become more familiar with the sound of the notes and the corresponding keys, their ability to find the keys will improve.
